Posted on September 12 2013Vintage and pre-loved apparel and accessories offer a timeless and classic appeal here are 8 reasons why we love it. 1. Vintage is eco-friendly. It minimises environmental and social issues with your wardrobe. With energy consumption, the practices of fast fashion, child labour and sweat shops, going vintage offers a environmentally-sound option. 2. Vintage is an investment. Buying pre-loved luxury items is a practical choice in today's economy. With the rising cost of designing and producing luxury fashion, prices continue to soar due to production costs and competition. Vintage is money well spent. 3. Vintage is inspirational. Style has evolved for many decades. Vintage allows you to sartorially embrace the era. 4. Vintage is unique. Certain pieces can either one-of a kind or limited edition. Either way there's a good chance that only a select few will have the same exact item. Buying pre-loved gives you an edge as each piece is unique and only made for a certain duration of time. 5. Vintage is versatile. Vintage can be mixed in easily with your wardrobe. 6. Vintage has a rich history. Good fashion gets better with age. 7. Vintage is quality. With so many items being mass produced, quality is a bit different as compared to many luxury items made with superior attention to detail. 8. Vintage is a collectable. True lovers of fashion will agree that there are key pieces in your wardrobe that have either been handed down or you acquire items that you plan to treasure. Tips: Know Your Style and Fit Once you've developed your own sartorial style, it's best to curate your closet with classic and timeless staples. Investing in classic pieces is a good way to build your wardrobe without breaking the bank. Rework as needed When you fall in love with a vintage item, there will be a chance that it might not fit perfectly. Which gives you the opportunity to make it yours. Can the seam be let loose? What if you removed the sleeves? Or perhaps shorten it a bit. Either way, you can suit it to fit you. Get inspired Collect photographs or images that reflect your style and taste. Create a wish list of items that will sustain long-wear use.

Posted on June 14 20111. Organization Seasonal wardrobe clearouts are key. If your wardrobe looks good, you’ll not just look good, you’ll feel good too. There’s nothing better then having a tidy organized wardrobe where you can see everything you own. This task will take up at least half a day depending on how much stuff you have so best to do this on the weekend or your day off. Start by sorting your pieces into piles ‘keep pile ’ ‘sell pile’ and ‘charity pile’ be true to yourself and don’t be afraid to let things go. Out with the old and in with the new. Just think of all the space and all the new additions you could purchase with the revenue from selling all the pieces you don’t wear. 2. Let it Go If you haven’t worn it in a year then you never will, if it doesn’t fit or doesn’t suit, don’t be a hoarder, let it go! Let that neglected piece have a second chance where it’ll be put to good use in a new home, allowing you to invest in a more practical piece that you know you’ll wear. As the saying goes, "one girls trash is another girls treasure". 3. Be a Savvy shopper Avoid mistake buys, just because something looks great on your favorite celebrity doesn’t mean its going to look great on you. Mistake buy’s will only leave you with an over cluttered wardrobe and money wasted. Always invest in a few classic pieces that suit your body shape and will last you years. We have a great selection of classic pieces available on HIGH-FASHION-SOCIETY.COM now. 4. Create Space If your clothing storage space is limited then here’s some clever tips to create space in your wardrobe. Pack your winter clothes away in the summer and vice-versa. Extra space means you can see exactly what you have and what you need to update your looks for the season ahead. Vacupac’s are perfect for this, just fold and bag your pieces then suck the air out with a vacum.... You can literally reduce the space that 5 coats would take up or even empty a whole drawer. Store the filled vacupacs with the pieces you won’t be wearing till next season under the bed, on top of the wardrobe, in the loft wherever they wont be taking up valuable space. Vacupacs can be bought on Amazon, Ebay, QVC or at most home-ware stores. 5.
